My World this Week

Oh, the weather outside is frightful...  While the big snow storm last week missed us, the cold front certainly did not.  It was five degrees when I got up this morning!  Today's sunny sky along with the snow on the ground combines for a Christmas-y feeling.

That is cold for December but not unusual.  I remember one year walking from the parking garage to the building where we were attending a Christmas concert and thinking I would be frozen solid before arriving.

So today I am staying inside to do just a little Holiday baking and perhaps later sipping some cocoa while beginning No Holly for Miss Quinn.  The only outside activities planned are trips to and from the rural mailbox.  Brrrrr...

Now for my world this last week as seen through the lens of a wonderful old camera.

Goodwill find last week, Royal Albert Old Country Roses Christmas.  Yeah...

Goodwill purchase last summer, it is a reproduction from Ford but looks real.  I added Christmas trees.

I just finished (for the umpteenth time) Miss Read's "Village Christmas" and started "The Christmas Mouse." I borrowed these from the library, but keep my eye out for a used copy some day to add to my Miss Read collection, And speaking of Christmas thrifting, I found 5 dinner plates and 8 cereal bowls of Pfaltzgraff'sh "Winterberry" at the thrift store for $1 each. I have several other pieces that I have collected thrifting for the last few years. I may have to order myself a single plate online to make a set of 6. They're only $10, although compared to $13 dollars for 13 pieces, that sounds quite high.

Love all the beautiful photos! Your home looks all Christmasy! I'm slowly getting there. Decorated the tree last night and set out the nativity scenes. Wow! Awesome finds at the thrift store! Love the Christmas teapot! And the pickup truck is a cute idea, too. It's so fun to see how others decorate. Thanks so much for sharing your world with us. Stay warm! Her Fluffiness has the right idea!
Blessings,
Laura C. from WA

I love the teapot, what a find. And that truck is just darling. What a cute idea putting the trees in the back. I love a good Christmas book too and am always on the look out. Enjoy your day!

You have amazing luck at the thrift store. Such a beautiful teapot.
Give Her Fluffiness a pat and I hope Santa brings her some cat treats.

Wonderful finds! The tea pot alone must have let you know that God is thinking of you!

As usual your world is filled with color, charm, interest and a feeling of home. I need to get my Miss Read Christmas books out again! I'm slowly getting my decorations up and we had an Advent singing at my house last weekend. Life is good.

Your tree is beautiful and the "little friends" under it. What a fantastic find--the Christmas teapot and Ford truck. You have a great Goodwill store and your timing must be perfect (your steps must be ordered by Him who gives us the desire of our heart). And aren't little things like that blessings that He gives us!
Stay warm, Sharon D.

Your house looks very warm and inviting. Love your decorations. I saw old favorites in your book pile. I'm not familiar with the bottom one, but sounds interesting. Is it an old book?
