Back to the seasonal To Do list...

Working in my back yard this morning.

The surgery went well and I had three days to recover.  Having gone through it twice before, I knew Monday morning would find me well enough for life to (almost) return to normal.  A very good thing, too, since freeze warnings are in the immediate forecast and I had to return a few garden decorations to the relative warmth of the garage before then.

How thankful I was that I had accomplished a little here and a little there already.  It only took about an hour to do what was immediately necessary.  There is always more to do but nothing essential.

I spent Friday mostly snoozing and recovering, Saturday watching cooking and crafting shows on TV, and by Sunday I was able to read a little.  I wanted to take some pictures outside but it had been wet and chilly... not good when one has gone through any kind of medical procedure.

But today there was a brief amount of time just after the sun rose above the horizon where I could put on a jacket, grab the camera, and take some photos of autumn.  While the trees are far from the Beauty they normally show in October (that late season heat wave and drought created more brown than red leaves), they are still quite lovely to look at.

Sometimes in years like this there have been one or two days when some red pops in the leaves before they fall.  I'll keep the camera handy just in case I can catch a glimpse of last minute pretty colors.  Otherwise it is... good enough.

Now I must return to my sofa and pillow for a little more recovery time.  I can rest assured that the immediate outside chores are done, the dishes are all washed and drying, and supper preparations are still hours away.

I am glad your recovery is going well and you even got out in the yard a bit. Keep looking for that pop of red in some leaves.

So glad that surgery went well and you were able to recover properly and not worry over things. Your house certainly is in the "forest", how quiet for you and hubby. I've been watching the "Heartland" cooking show also: so far, so good. We're originally from the Midwest, living in eastern PA for now, so that show brings back memories. Always looking forward to your "news"....wow, too many "quotes" in this post!

I am so happy to hear how well you are doing! Praise the Lord!

Autumn was coming on early here in late August now, it seems to be crawling! We hope we get some good color (there is some!) before we get a frost! My Red Sunset Maples in the front yard are still mostly green.

Rest well!

How wonderful to hear how well you are doing, Brenda! Now do go back and rest quietly! Do you ever get books on tape from the library? I think they are great! You can rest your eyes and just listen.........

I am glad you got through the surgery and are doing well. Yard work is never done but what a blessing to have a nice yard. I have a hard time staying in the house. Take care of yourself.

So happy your surgery went well and sounds like recovery is going well also!

We're going to have our first freeze warning Friday! I'm so glad I got my fall veggies in the ground a few weeks ago.

So thankful your surgery went well and you are recovering nicely! Loved the photo of the back of your house with the trees beginning their Fall colors. We've had fog and low clouds with no sun for three or fours days now, but the Fall leaves help to add some color! Glad you were able to get outside for at least a little bit. Take it easy and cozy up with Miss Victoria!
Blessings,
