I've decided to leave the hutch the way it is for awhile... |
The week has been quite rainy so I've done a lot of cozy re-reading, and cooking, and watching of TV in the evenings. It was wonderful re-reading the books below, starting with the first in the season called Vittoria Cottage.
I wish I owned Bel Lamington (I'd borrowed it through Inter Library Loan), while not officially a part of the series, in typical D. E. Stevenson fashion it talks about the characters from the books who reside in Scotland. I'll have to ask for it again the next time I'm at the library. :)
Re-Reading
My very favorite D. E. Stevenson series. |
Watching
Call the Midwife Season 2... wonderful! |
Beauty
My second bouquet of yellow daffodils. |
Tea Time
My favorite teapot and teacup, gifts from my daughter. |
Cooking
Mom's veggie beef soup recipe. As a bride, I carefully watched how Mom made it and it is just like hers. |
Don't Ask
I'm only here to help, really I am. |

I Love your "My world" posts! Maybe because I love books and tea, too!? Beautiful teapot and teacup from your daughter! Is your birthday in July? My daffodils are fading, so I bought a sweet pot of tulips that are just now blooming. The tulip festival just north of us in Mt. Vernon, WA is in full swing this month so there are tulips everywhere! So pretty! Thanks for sharing what you're reading and watching. It's great inspiration! Now I want to look for those books! Your blog is a real blessing to me! God bless you!
Hugs,
Laura C. (From WA)
Looks like a delightful week.
I just started Call the Midwife! I'm enjoying it.
Stay safe with those crazy storms....

Fun, happy life post!
I'm reading The Midwife right now and am enjoying it so much. I haven't watched it on TV --- I prefer books first, then the drama of media.
And I found a setting of your china in a thrift shop recently. I didn't buy it -- but admired its beauty! It is a charming pattern.
Ah, cute little kitty!!

It is my great privilege to tell you that Bel is on her way to your house. Watch for her! Can you guess who she's from? When she gets to your house, you'll know then. I love her story, too! (smile)
Some wonderful photos to accompany your always good words. I keep saying over and over that I must find this book or that. Auntie reminded me of it the other day when I said I wanted to read Gladys Taber books. I'll just echo that I want to read this series, too. Sigh. I'll get there. Auntie even looked up some books at my library and told me that they were there! What a riot. I had no idea that my library featured a search page. Ha!
Lovely post...blessings
I need to check whether I have an extra copy of Bel Lamington...I think I probably do.
Hoping to hop in bed and finally start on Call the Midwives Season 2 tonight!!!!
you know I will be on the lookout to buy any DE Stevenson books I come across while in SCotland!!!! I believe I have read those three you have pictured, but I'm sure I would enjoy a re-read, especially, maybe while I'm there???
The soup looks wonderful. Today would be a good day for soup as the temperature has dropped again. Would love your (your mom's) recipe.
The teapots are so pretty on your hutch. Love it.
Blessings, Sharon D.
I think I could use a bowl of your wonderful looking veggie soup today! It's cold and rainy ~ just right for cozy meals and many cups of tea. Your teapot and cup are charming ~
Have a lovely weekend
Kittes are always so helpful:)
I've been reading Maeve Binchy's last novel A Week In Winter. It's absolutely great!
I hope you and your loved ones are safe from the flooding in the news today! When it rains, it pours! Hopefully, all that water will alleviate the drought your region has experienced recently. Take care!
