I thought Hubby and I would be alone again this year but people involved worked it all out so that Thanksgiving is coming to us! Mr. & Mrs. Christopher, her parents and sisters... they are coming here and bringing part of the meal... and extra hands for cleanup.
I cannot handle traveling to their house but I can handle (as you know) setting a beautiful table with my collection of brown transferware (thanks to Kristi, I have plenty of plates!)... roasting a turkey and dressing... mixing up the gravy... and buffing and shining our home the few days prior to Thanksgiving with help from Hubby.
It is a good thing to have company once in awhile who have never been to your home. All of a sudden you see your house as you haven't for awhile... like how much clutter is sitting to be taken out to the garage!
Oh, about a couple of comments... I noticed the same thing about the font being harder to read since I changed the width. I think I fixed it this morning by just changing the font. If it is still hard to read, let me know.
My eyesight is not what it used to be so I completely understand needing easy fonts to read (and don't get me started on Word Verification, which can take me three times to figure out the fuzzy pictures they use). ;)
The plate shown on the Sunday Afternoon Tea post is from the Churchill Vintage Game pattern. Our Tuesday Morning already sells it at reduced prices. However, I stopped by the shop after Christmas last year and found a few pieces on clearance.
The bowls shown above (from a previous Thanksgiving) are from the Churchill Thanksgiving design. I bought them two or three years ago (also on clearance from Tuesday Morning). Since they were all that was left from that pattern, they sold them on clearance for about a dollar apiece!
The nice thing about transferware is that you can easily mix and match most of the designs as I will this Thanksgiving.
I won't be back until after the Holiday so I send out a prayer for a
Blessed Thanksgiving.

I love your Thanksgiving dishes. I have admired the transferware dishes ever since I saw them on your blog. The "Friendly Village" which I love are usually out of my budget range, but a few days ago I found dessert plates at a price I could afford and latched onto them quick. I was thrilled to have the "beginnings" of a new collection.
(I always think I need to have company every so often so the house gets a really good cleaning.)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and guests!
Blessings, Sharon D.
Oh Thanksgiving at your house sounds marvelous and fun! Have a very blessed time preparing and enjoying your company. This is as close as it gets for us adult women to play house. I'm sure that's why we like it so much! Don't forget to dress pretty and wear your finest smile. Love to you and yours!
Gotta have a few of those plates. .. being I'm the outdoorsy hunter sort.
Short story. My grand uncle and aunt (dad's side) lived a couple of doors down, never had any kids. They were the hunter/fisher/cabin types. There were two things that always struck me about their rather humble home. .. the smell of Juicy Fruit gum that he used to pass out to kids on his route and a large turkey platter that hung on the wall next to their kitchen table. When she passed, her sister called and asked if there might be something I would like. I sheepishly asked about the platter. Glad I did, it was in the donation bin. . .they all hated it!! :) Its now proudly displayed for Thanksgiving in my home.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Lovely that so much family will be gathering at your house and I'm thrilled that you will use my grandmother's plates for some of the guests, and I know my grandmother is thrilled, too!
I know it will be tiring for you, but many hands make light work. I am wishing for a wonderful Thanksgiving for you all! This will be Mr. and Mrs. Christopher's first Thanksgiving as a married couple! How special that they are spending it with you all.
I always enjoy reading your lovely words and seeing your pretty pictures!
And a blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Now that sounds like fun!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
It sounds lovely Brenda! You are so right, it IS good for us to have guests once in a while in order to put on our "company eyes"! I know I get too comfortable if we go too long between visitors! Wishing you and your lovely family a nice day together. Mrs. Christopher sounds like a wonderful girl.
Happy Thanksgiving to you my friend.
Love,
Tracey

P.S. Love the transfer ware...you have so many pretty things!
Hi Brenda! Just wanted to say Happy thanksgiving!!!! I am behind on reading blogs and need to catch up, but figured I better say hi before too many more days go by! I'm glad you will have a fun Thanksgiving with everyone at your house! I'm sure it will be beautiful! WE are being hosted by friends since we are still in "recovery" from the wedding! :)
Hi Brenda. How wonderful that you'll be sharing Thanksgiving with family after all! We've decided to stay home and work on the house which was damaged by flooding from Sandy. We'll cook something up on a campstove and be grateful for it. Isn't that what Thanksgiving is about anyway? People have been incredibly kind to us and my immediate neighbors are considedring how we can best pass on the kindness. So even though it hasn't been an enjoyable experience, there is a silver lining. Oh, and the rainbow! In the morning after the storm, there was a beautiful rainbow in the northwest sky. (Usually we see them on the southeast side,in the afternoon). He has quite a sense of humor, doesn't He? Happy Thanksgiving! Dee/NY
Just popped over to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!
This is the right blog for anyone who wants to find out about this topic. You realize so much its almost hard to argue with you (not that I actually would want…HaHa). You definitely put a new spin on a topic thats been written about for years. Great stuff, just great!
