I know, that is a rather odd combination.
Sigh... tomorrow (Friday) is the day of my eye surgery and I do appreciate all prayers. It has been hovering in the back of my mind all of today. I've tried to prepare by making certain the laundry is caught up and the kitchen is clean for at least five minutes.
I didn't spend much time outside today although I should have been winterizing the garden. (What is it about outdoor chores that weigh on us when they are undone... or is it just me?) When I walked down the gravel lane to pick up our mail, I attempted to soak up all the golden sunshine and hold it within to remember in the Bleak Midwinter.
What is it about the golden light of autumn? I suppose there is a scientific reason behind it, having something to do with the position of the sun and prisms and such but I prefer to think of it as a magical treat (Narnia magic, of course) from Providence... the honey colored light shining upon the golds and reds and bronzes and lime green leaves... some still holding on to their life giving-branches and the others now muted and crunchy where they drifted on our lawn.
"I am the vine and you are the branches, without me you can do nothing."
All of the fifteenth chapter of St. John comes back to me in the seasons of planting and harvest. I look at the withering leaves on the gravel and tell them there are days I know just how they feel. :)
Another sigh... so, I hope to be back in person on Tuesday when there must be some writing about the subject of all things books or I will have to take out part of my title for false advertising.
I hope to finish the homeschooling post that has been simmering for awhile on the back burner of my thinking and write some of the couple dozen e-mails I have flagged.
In the meantime, I found a couple Oldies But Goodies from 2007 for Saturday and Sunday re-posts. What happens when you are in your seventh year of blogging? You forget your sixth anniversary of the first time you hit Publish Blog six years ago in August. :)

I hope the eye surgery goes well and you recover quickly!!!
I am happy to pray for your surgery tomorrow, for peace and complete recovery.
I know that you will have lots of prayers going up for you and the eye surgery and the surgeon. It's not easy to put it aside. John says to just relax and go with it as everyone will take very good care of you. When you're in God's hands, you can relax knowing that He is on the job. Take care now... Don't worry about hurrying back until you're ready. Got some audio books?
Prayers and get well soon after your surgery. Don't worry about the blog. We all understand. Just take it easy.
I pray for excellent results for your eye surgery, and take time to rest before coming back.
Praying for you, Brenda. Glad I saw this before I went to bed!
Praying that your eye surgery will go well and that you'll soon be home recuperating. Waiting is always the worst, isn't it?
I will be praying also for you. Relax and rest and heal. Don't hurry back to us by any means. We are not going anywhere and will be here when you are ready to share. Sarah
Praying for you dear Brenda. As much as I look forward to your posts, I do hope you will take all the time you need to rest and refresh.
I'll be praying for you too. Although we'll miss you here in your blog space, it's most important that you are well when you return!
