Where were you when the world stopped turning?

I remember... we lived in Detroit.  Christopher was eleven and we had gone to the local diner as we usually did on the day his dad got on a jet plane.

We were enjoying our favorite omelets and listening to the newscast about an accident in New York City... and then... as we watched... the second plane hit.

We finished our breakfast and ran to the safety of our rented house where we waited for word on our traveler, which did not come until that evening.  He was in the air when the towers were hit and all air traffic was grounded by the time he landed.

We will always remember the day the world stopped turning... but God is in control and our Lord will have His Day.

What a long, long day that must have been for you all having your husband and father in the air that day. I'm so curious that I must go back as I have a vague recollection of the rest of the story.

Yes, I found it. I knew that the day had a number of effects on your family beyond the "usual." Sigh. What might have been. It is good that you know the One who controls all the unknowns of our future.

Amen!

The kids and I were at home getting ready to start our school morning. Just finishing up the morning news, we saw the report of a plane crashing into the WTC building, then when I was in the kitchen my son called out "Mom another plane just flew into the other building!" I knew then that it was not an accident....

All we can do on this day is say a prayer for peace in this world.
