A new blog and a give away!

Announcing the Mom Heart Blog!

I first met Sally Clarkson through her books and tapes (so you know how long ago that was, I listened with my original cassette Sony Walkman).  As an older homeschooling mother, I felt as if I'd finally "met" a kindred spirit.  Sally was passionate about the same things as this mother.

Fast forward many years later, Sally and I became e-mail friends through this blog and eventually met in person when Stephanie and I attended a conference in Connecticut where she was a speaker.

Stephanie had earlier welcomed Sarah and Joel Clarkson to her home but this time... along with her mother and father (that being us)... Clay and Sally also stayed at B&B Stephanie (which is proof I do have the world's best son-in-law as it was a full house!).

Sometimes when you meet a person you admire in person, there is a moment of realization that their public persona is not the same as their private life.  I was very pleased to find Sally and her family to be just as lovely in person as in print and online.  I so enjoyed my time with them.

We have not had opportunity to meet in person again but once in awhile there is a quickly written e-mail in either Inbox reminding the other they are loved and being thought of and prayed for.

Awhile ago, Sally began to mention an idea she and Clay had for a new addition to their ministry and she wanted me to take part.  The seeds of those ponderings are now planted and in full bloom as... the Mom Heart Blog!  I am so excited to be one of the contributing authors!

Mom Heart Online is spiritual harbor. We’re here not just to bring you in to stay, but also to send you out to sail. We are a place any mom can come to be encouraged, equipped, and enabled as a mother after God’s heart.

We are here to....

... Inspire and engage your heart with great content that calls you to a high vision for your life as a mother.

... Create an online community of moms where you can network and interact with others who share your heart, to train you how to easily start and lead your own Mom Heart Group.

... Continue in life what you find online.

... Provide quality and original materials and resources that will fill your heart and mind with life-changing wisdom and truth.

What you can do...

Please add Mom Heart to your daily reading and help us get the word out.  I know this new blog will be a blessing to many women.  Here are some of the ways you can become involved...

Actually, I just did mosey on over and look at the new blog and then emailed some young mothers I know who I think will enjoy this....One of them is the head of their MOPS group (mothers of Preschoolers) so I hope the word gets spread around....Brenda, I began typing the introduction to my Brambly Hedge book a while ago and emailed it to you. Did you ever get it?

Even though my children are now grown I plan to check this new blog out. I am now reading Seasons of a Mother's Heart. I saw it at the library and wanted to read it since you had mentioned Sally Clarkson so often. :)

I wish there had been a blog like that when my children were young. A lot of mothers need the support and guidance.

However, I would never teach anyone to be 'subject to her husband' as Sally suggests. My husband and I have been loving partners and equals for over 36 years and I am certainly not 'subject' to him.

And I am going to go over and have a look. This sounds just great. I'll be back to let you know if I still think so after checking it out.

How timely to have such a ministry...I am one of those who laments what is happening to the values long held dear in this day and time. It made me think of that old expression "the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world."

Woman, how divine your mission
Here upon our natal sod!
Keep, oh, keep the young heart open
Always to the breath of God!
All true trophies of the ages
Are from mother-love impearled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.

I'm moseying over to check out your blog. Being in Mexico, with very little contact with other missionaries, I often feel "out on a limb" in my role as mother. I am constantly counseling, teaching, training and encouraging others--but have very few I can turn to when I need those things!! Looking forward to your blog.

I read The Whole Hearted Child many years ago at the beginning of my homeschool journey, and found it to be full of wisdom and life, so I will be happy to hop on over and check out this new site! Thank you for the "heads-up"!
