Tea Time with the girls

On our last full day in Virginia, we had a European Style afternoon tea at a lovely tea room in Newport News.  One of the things we love about going to tea rooms is getting ideas to use back home.  This tea room gave us lots of good ideas and the food was quite good.

We were all offered hats to wear for the occasion.  Stephanie and I declined but the girls were delighted to wear hats which matched their party dresses.

The food was served European Style... in courses rather than on tiered tea trays.  I had their strawberry champagne gazpacho (pictured above), it was something I've never tried before!

We all agreed it was a delightful experience and a lovely way to wrap up our time together.  Stephanie and her family were making the drive back home all in one day so they left at 4:00 the next morning... yawn.

Added note:  The girl's dresses were borrowed from friends...

Greetings Brenda,

What a lovely time you ladies had! I did meet your daughter Stephanie at the home school convention this past April. We live a town or two apart I think you mentioned. How generous of them to take you on vacation--they must love you very much, your truly blessed. I did an interview with Karen Andreola on Charlotte Mason. I believe you told me you used her methods. Perhaps your daughter does as well.

Here is the interview:

Take care,

My mother in law used to have the little tea parties with my oldest daughter and niece. They would dress up in old formals and hats and 'have tea'. They have very fond memories now that mother is in heaven.

What a happy time together...I'm 66 years old and still have happy memories of going for tea (with wonderful tea sandwiches) with my mother, my mother and aunt, my grandmother....I bet these little girls will remember this all their lives too.

Beautiful dresses borrowed from friends and the hats just made the outfits. Of course, such lovely young ladies don't need too much help looking fabulous. What a great tea time. I'm rather taken with the sandwich tray right now...lunch time I guess.

O, lovely! I like the hats from the girls and I never had an Europian afternoon tea party. I think its an Englisch usage.
