She said yes!

Boston trip in January
Christopher had been planning the events of yesterday for a couple of weeks...

He took her back to a beach on Lake Michigan where, when they were there last summer with a group of friends, they both realized each was "the one" the other had prayed for.  He asked her father for permission to begin dating her.

He took her out to dinner at The Olive Garden near the beach.

Then they drove back to her home (which is quite a distance from us) and when they pulled up last night, her family had put up the Christmas lights from our tree (which he had to locate among various boxes in the garage) around their porch.

There were beautiful lavender and purple flowers he had purchased earlier over the porch swing.... and as she sat on the swing surrounded by flowers... he said something of which he cannot remember and gave her the ring.

I received a picture of her hand with the ring on it on my cell phone and texted back... did she say YES?

Of course, she did.  :)

Miss M. will become a member of the family next spring.

Congratulations! Exciting news! I know you will enjoy a new daughter-by-marriage. I smiled when I read that Christopher could not remember what he said. Our oldest son could not remember what he said when he proposed (last summer). All he could remember was that he was very nervous!

Oh, that's lovely news!
Best wishes to the young couple and to your family. It's such a lovely time in a person's life. We're in the midst of wedding plans too in our extended family, as a neice and her long time beau are getting married in Sept. I'm enjoying hearing all about the plans. They've chosen a wedding at home, in the orchard with everyone in the family, "helping". I think it's going to be personal and quite wonderful. I hope for all good things to come to all of our young people.

Yes, I know too many horror storeis about women especially who had heart attacks and didn't know it. I am glad your friend survived!
