Pictures of my "vintage" kitchen

The red bookshelf was in my husband's boyhood room holding his favorite books.
It has been a crazy week around here with Christopher getting ready to leave for a robotics competition with a group from the University.  To miss a week of classes, he has been getting about five hours of sleep a night (arriving home around 3:00 each morning) to get homework and projects finished.

He is representing the University at the competition as the president of the national student computer organization.  Two vans will be leaving today and return next Sunday or Monday... I appreciate your prayers for safety!

I did get a chance this morning to take some pictures of my newly scrubbed and shining kitchen.  Hope you like them!

The daffodils are sitting on the little kitchen island...

My work space...

I removed a few items from the shelves and moved some around...

I love having the dish washing liquid in something pretty...

The top of my refrigerator...

I spared you pictures of the breakfast dishes in the sink!  :)

Most of the vintage items were found at garage sales and thrift shops for very little money.  Of course, the fun is in the search to find old fashioned accessories with red or yellow colors.

Everything looks bright and cheery and features two of my favorite colors...yellow and red. You're making me feel guilty for my own kitchen needs some TLC. I must get off this computer!

So cheery, Brenda. I love the old fashioned feel that you have intentionally accomplished.

Praying for safe travels for Christopher and the rest of the teams.

So much charm there! I too love the colors red and yellow. I feel they wake me up and energize me, something I always need! I'm wondering where your cookbooks are, and which ones you have...

Traveling mercies for Christopher.

It's so pretty and homey! I loved what you said the other day that you like to see your things out rather than put in cupboards so the countertop is bare. I didn't know that I was a person that "likes" that or not, but it's certainly the way my kitchen is! I think I've always aspired to have perfectly clean countertops like my best friend in school's mom always had. (She was quite OCD, truth be told, and her home was p.e.r.f.e.c.t.) Seeing your lovely kitchen now though, I think I should just embrace my "look" with things out where they are visible and usable. Love it!

How much fun to have something in your kitchen . . . from your husbands childhood. Also love the pops of red.

Fondly,
Glenda

Ah, sometimes I'm blind! Just spotted your cookbooks on the right hand side of the first picture. Can't read all the titles though! ;-)

I love your kitchen - now I need to find myself just the right olive oil bottle for my dish soap!

As red is my favorite color, I think I would be happy to do your dishes for a good long while. (doing someone else's chores is always more fun anyway).

Have a great week!

Brenda ~ you have the coziest, warm kitchen. I spied the red tea kettle on your stove ~ wish we lived closer so I could come over for a chat and a nice cup of tea!

What a sweet vintage kitchen... so homey! I'm on a search for ideas for my back patio area. We are painting and sprucing up that area and I want to have a vintage patio look this summer!
