What to do instead of melting outside
The heat index yesterday was 105... suppose to be the same or hotter today. Yesterday's storm and today's rain left behind only more humidity (although the garden enjoyed the shower).
After fifteen minutes or so in the garden yesterday, I had to go back into the air conditioning (diabetics do not handle heat very well... believe me). I thank God for the miracle of air conditioning.
I grew up in houses where air conditioning meant the windows were up and the screen door was often heard slamming shut (not by me, of course... never). It's funny because I remember being hot in the summer but rarely so much it affected me... was it youth or just our body's being more acclimated without the use of AC?
Christopher needed a dessert for a party last night, his first "office party" given by his boss at the research center. I made Sheila's Cake which is our name for the chocolate chip apple cake... it is always a hit with chocolate lovers. Otherwise, the oven is off!
This morning I figured a hot day was a good excuse to (finally) clean out the refrigerator. It was also easier to fish out two whole chickens from the bottom of the deep freeze when one doesn't mind the cold draft in the hot garage.
Otherwise... this is a day for taking it easy... very easy.

Sounds like a day for curling up by the air conditioner and reading. Funny what a difference a few months makes and how easy it can be to forget what it was like then. Take good care...
I so agree. Dh and I went to the festival in a little town close and melted, finally we looked at each other and both said why are we here? Lets go home to the AC.
We are having the same type weather and yes, we both (diabetics too) feel done in by the heat and we have stayed inside so much as possible. I went out for the mail after the storm and shower went through and it felt even hotter!! I lived in very hot climate too when young, but I do not think it was THIS humid!!! Dry heat is easier to survive.
Stay cool and comfortable!

I agree ~ perfect weather to take it easy ... very easy :o)
We don't have AC but do have a couple of excellent fans that help a lot!
I just lamented the heat and humidity on my site as well. Too many days of a cooped up preschooler isn't good for anyone.
Re: air conditioning... I've lost track of how many times I've said upon entering the house, "God bless you, Mr. Carrier."
So hot, wow! Stay cool and have a beautiful Sunday.
Warm wishes, Tonya
We have had 110 heat index, but thank goodness today was a little cooler. We have been inside in air conditioning and thank goodness we have it. I also grew up without it and did survive. I was in a body cast for several years of my life and that was not fun when it got hot. My husband and I can find plenty to do inside all year long.
Love ya!
Marie
I'm not diabetic, and I do not handle the heat well either. Happy to report that it's winter here though. :)
