I am slowly recovering and enjoying the brief days of gorgeous temperatures and humidity before the heat returns this weekend. My Martha side wants to clean, clean, clean... my Mary side reminds me I just came through a serious illness. Mary is winning most days. :)
The tomato plants look like they are going to grow as high as trees!
This picture (above) is what the baby watermelon plant looks like now. I was wondering if it would grow since this part of the garden gets a little shade... I'd say it looks just fine.
I've said before that this garden all started with just a conversation between my husband and I as we talked about researching a raised bed garden. It is one of the best yes-es we have ever decided to go through with. Our property is not perfect for a garden, being at the edge of a forest... but we found one area that gets some good sunshine.

I loved the Mary/Martha thing, by the way. I am supposed to rest a great deal and tend to be more of a Martha than a Mary. I must remember that. Maybe it will help me do as I am told!

That is one healthy looking garden, Brenda! I am amazed by all that lush green and you're right, those tomatoes look very vigorous indeed. Glad that you've chosen the Mary side for now.

-what delicious things you'll have to eat during this summer! I love your way of putting the Mary and Martha story. It's funny, because I've been thinking about that paticular story lately. - I've been edging more closer to the Martha side. I think I should put more of Mary's life in my own.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been ill! No fun! Your garden looks great. I have used beds like that for over 20 years, and I would never do it any other way.
Our growing season in Colorado is a little later than many places. I picked my first summer squash last week and my first cucumber this week. Now I can't wait for the first tomatoes! We are growing large pumpkins for the grandkids in one bed. There's room to let them vine outside the bed. We will see what happens. I gave up a bed of pink, purple, and white zinnias to try the pumpkins. One of these days I will post some photos of my garden.

Lovely Garden! I'll admit I'm a bit jealous of those lovely tomatoes. Mine are about the size of marbles right now... Hope you have a wonderful Fourth!
