A bouquet of oregano

My oregano has been growing so fast, it developed lots of flowers long before I used any of it.

Yesterday I decided to clip it back (ohhh... the beautiful aroma!) and use some of the "clippings" as a bouquet.

Next year I will be certain to build something my vines can grow up.  This watermelon plant has taken me completely by surprise!

Ferns there (Cherry Hill Cottage), oregano here, what next in the line of bouquet material? I'm thinking that the sky's the limit.

My oregano is flowered out, too, and I love it! The bees and butterflies do, too. Your garden is beautiful and so is your blog. Have a lovely day! Juli A.

We have found ourselves cooking with much oregano of late. It does smell so good.

Did you know herbs love to be brutally cut back? They'll come back more vigorous than before - fuller and more blossoms. We routinely cut our herb bed down to 6" tall - everything - and in 2 weeks it's all back and going great guns. ha!

Wash your oregano leaves, dry them, and pop them into a ziploc bag and freeze. Drop them into soups straight from the freezer and they'll taste like fresh-picked! Same with basil & cilantro.

This is a very unusual looking oregano. In fact, I never saw one really like it.(And I was a garden writer and belonged to Herb Societies for nearly 25 years.) Did it have any more to the name? I'm very curious about it.

Interesting...

About 3 wks ago we began with a local farm Co-op and I am beginning to feel BETTER!!! Amazing what ripe, fresh fruit and veggies do for a person!! Our soil here is so bad (and we are in a rental) so we are not growing anything at this point. But when we move next I hope to do so. The vine ripened are hard to beat!!

Blessings, Elizabeth
