Looking at life from the sofa

I'm finding getting the everyday stuff of life accomplished each day a bit like running on sand.  Only nine more antibiotic pills to take... sigh.  There is much hope that I'll feel better once they get completely out of my system.  I love the word HOPE so much that it has been spelled out with Scrabble tiles on my breadbox for a long time.  :)

As the "catch up-to do" list gets longer each day, I have been taking advantage of sofa time to watch the Winter Olympics.  While the Summer Olympics have never held my attention, there is something about the events in Winter that I love to watch.  Not to mention the scenery there in Vancouver.  I had no idea the mountains were so beautiful.

Isn't it fun to learn the stories behind each person?  I'm sure there were many of us holding our breath last night as the Chinese husband and wife team skated their final performance and rejoiced with them when they won gold... all because we learned of their story.  :)

I wonder if the "great cloud of witnesses" lean over the balcony of Time and rejoice with us as we keep going in spite of the trials and tribulations of life.  Each of us has a Story.

Sigh... I continue to be way behind on most e-mails (especially those which require thinking) as well as writing anything which requires putting one thought after another (like the next pantry post).  I do have hope...

I was cheering for the Chinese couple, and for the coach. His story was compelling - especially when he cried because he has missed his son growing up.

I do HOPE with you that you will be feeling better when the antibiotics are finished!

Feel better!!! I have been spending too much time on the couch lately, and I don't have an excuse. Hope you can get up and around soon!

Antibiotics do knock the stuffin' out of a person. Keeping you in my prayers.

Oh yes, Nan and I watched the skaters until late in the night. I think it was after midnight when we finally headed for bed and so we missed the medal ceremony. I actually thrilled more to the Silver medal team's performance last night, but was happy for the husband and wife who won "knowing their story."

Judy at "My Front Porch" and Lovella at "What Matters Most" are BC gals who share a lot of photos of their beautiful province and Vancouver. You might be interested to visit them and see first-hand pics. I've taken to calling British Columbia "God's Country" as it is exquisitely beautiful.

So glad to hear somebody outside of our province enjoys it. It is a lovely place full of so many different regions to enjoy. One thing to remember about Vancouver. There is a reason why everything is so green..It rains.. and rains.. and rains.. but when the sun comes out it is like a little piece of heaven. I guess you always have to take the good with the bad!! Will be praying for your speedy recovery, but until then, enjoy your view from the couch.:)

Speaking of stories, just learned that NBC is having a special program called "Who Do You Think You Are?" on March 5th at 8 PM (EST). Hubby and I have been working some on our ancestry this year and it is so fun to learn new things, even about your grandparents that you did not know. Learning of the past can often explain some of what we incounter in our own lives.

Pray you will recover fine from your antibiotics, as well as your infection. We take a lot of vitamins and minerals and some herbs to try to keep ourselves going as well as we can. Diabetes surely gives us plenty of hills to climb, doesn't it?
Blessings,
Elizabeth

Dear Brenda, I can so relate to your feeling like you are trying to run on sand. Five years ago I was diagnosed with a chronic neuromuscular disease. For a 2 or 3 years I was frustrated with my inability to get things done the way I once did and I was angry about it too. But I have gradually realized that I get more done not less if I allow myself the rest that I need; I'm also much more pleasant to be around if I set realistic expectations. Rest an hour, get up and do a specific task or two, and then rest seems to work best for me.

I hope you feel much better soon!

Just wanted to let you know that I made that buffalo chicken dip from a few posts back and we all loved it. We liked it best with pieces of french bread warm out of the oven topped with blu cheese dressing. Thanks!

I do hope you are feeling better soon - it's been a long stretch of weariness for you and I know how trying that can be! We don't have t.v., or I think I too would be stretched out enjoying the Olympics. Instead I spent and hour on the couch reading to a little boy with a rumbly tummy and sipping tea. He has the chills and cannot go out to play in the snow with Sister, but is cheerful and bright despite it! Today we were transported to the seacoast of Ireland and enthralled by the viking raids!

Hello Dear Brenda,

So sorry to hear you are still dragging physically.

Seeing as you are a naturally busy bee...I am guessing that you are being a little hard on yourself for... necessarily... editing the to~do list during this rhythm~of~rest your body needs to regenerate. Please know you are in my prayers for perfect healing and a lovely, enjoyable recuperation period.

Good thoughts and blessings to you!

Love from,
Tracey

I'm sorry you're still feeling bad. I, too, have had some kind of bug for the past 4 days and it does get one down. I'll be praying for you, my dear sister in Christ.

I have been glued to the Olympics, too. I was so happy for the Chinese couple that won and also happy for their coach that has put so much of his life into this sport.

Rest and get well soon! Lots of prayers going up for you!

God bless you - Julie

I just bought the word HOPE to put on one of my living room walls. It is a great word, isn't it? Especially when your hope is in Christ.

May you be feeling well soon.
