We had to take her to the vet yesterday with an emergency appointment. She started throwing up (yuk) two days ago and by yesterday morning was quite ill.
Her vet found she had a bad "infiltration" of fleas (who knew under all that fur?), which she brought with her from her original home that had many cats. They ran lots of tests but nothing showed up that would cause these symptoms.
They sent her home and said to see if the flea treatment helps her to be able to keep down food. So far, she hasn't been able to eat or drink for over two days now and she continues to be lethargic.
We certainly do not want to lose this one to whom we have become so attached. We will update you tomorrow.
NOTE: No, we did not have X-rays taken as they are quite expensive... just lots of blood tests. Which cost enough, yikes! Should they be necessary, we'll do it. The doctor said to see if she gets better first (they were Sasha and Storm's vets so they know my husband is on Disability).

Perhaps she needs intravenous - which is expensive - let me know and I'll help anyway I can......
Also - perhaps an xray - she may have swallowed something that is obstructing her digestive system.....let me know.
Oh so sorry...will ask the FATHER to help Victoria!! Poor little animal!!

Love your ♥ Brenda....thinking of y'all. Keep us updated.
I just called my husband and Avery is over there after school. We had prayer on the phone for Victoria while they were both on the phone. I am so sorry this is happening and I just pray the Lord will touch her and allow her eat and drink and heal from this episode. I know we love our pets like little people and it is so upsetting. We will continue to pray. love, Trish
Ohhh I do pray she makes a recovery! She is a beautiful fluffy lady!!
Blesings,

Dear Brenda,
Although I have been reading your site daily for over a year now, I have never left a message. Your daily thoughts have encouraged me more than I can tell you. I am a cat lover and have my own story of a miraculous cat recovery. I KNOW that our Father in heaven is more than able to restore your precious Victoria. I have just lifted you all up in prayer and will continue to do so. Please keep us posted. Bonnie
I will be praying for sweet Victoria! Thank you for your always lovely, uplifting posts. I enjoy them immensely!
Will pray...nope, am praying.
Father, We praise you and exhalt your name on high as our Lord!
In your Holy name we come to you asking if it be your will to put your hand of healing on this little one named Victoria. She is your creation and is in need of your power. Please comfort all those who love this cat and that all things work together for good for those that love you and are called according to your purpose. Thank you Father God. In Jesus name that we pray, amen.
Praying for your new little sweetie...
Love,
Trish
Awww...I hope she feels much better soon!
Brenda!
How is our Victoria tonight!!??? You are all in our prayers! Wookie does this sometimes. No reason. He just does it for a few days and then he is better. Please post soon and let us know, won't you?
Thinking of all of you!

Praying for sweet Victoria!
We have two kitties and both have, at times, had tummy ailments. One of ours will not start eating again on her own after she's been poorly. Our vet told us that cats can go a certain amount of time without eating (I wish I could remember the specifics!) and after that they can develop other problems from not having food and water.
We have had to force-feed our Gracie a couple of times to avoid having to take her in for IVs. We use a syringe with the needle removed and fill it with a mixture of meat baby food (chicken, turkey, or lamb) and water. I usually hold her tightly and pull her mouth open gently and squirt just a smidge in at a time.
Usually it takes a day of doing these feedings every 4 hours or so and then she perks up enough to want to eat some of her regular cat food.
Another thing to consider is that if Victoria has been licking a lot, either because of the fleas or just because she likes to (we have an obsessive bather!), she may have a good-sized hairball she's trying to get up.
I'll pray for wisdom and comfort for you, too, in dealing with this.
I too, am praying!
Friend Debra
Philip and I both are praying for Victoria tonight, Brenda! As a mother of 7 kitties (and 3 more dearly departed...) I know that they can really scare you with their curious ailments. And I know how precious they are, too. Praying that your sweet cat will make a full and complete recovery.
And, for the record, fleas *can* make them sick. And with her long hair it's possible that she could definitely have some hairball issues. I don't want to add to anything that the vet has already told you to do or not do, but a simple over-the-counter castor oil-based hairball remedy might be worth trying...
but praying...keep us posted...
love,
Lanier
Praying, praying, praying for precious Victoria. Please keep us updated. Big hugs, Susan P.
iv'S are expensive, but dehydration is devastating and fast. Praying that she begins to improve and is healed.
I feel very bad for you. I am praying.
Praying for Victoria's speedy recovery.
You can give her 1/2 of a 10 mg tablet of Pepcid AC. It has to be the AC version of Pepcid. Or if you have nux vomica homeopathic remedy.
Be sure to try syringe feeding her several times a day. She can develop hepatic lipidosis from not eating. Check her ears, whites of eyes, gums to make sure they haven't turned to yellow. If they have she'll need aggressive care so she doesn't go into liver failure.
Not meaning to scare you, Victoria is in God's care and He'll give you the wisdom to care properly for her.
My household loves the kitties!
Oh, I am praying for you and Victoria...what a precious baby.
I have many kittys here too...I LOVE kittys....
I have been on "vet watch" here too since the first of December with my toy poodle, Buddy..we are taking it day by day...
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Victoria...
Blessings to You and Victoria
Love,
Kary
