She's better!

Last night I was still carrying Victoria to her water dish and telling her she has to drink.  I even poured out her filtered water and put well water (directly from the tap) in the bowl just in case that (Ughhh) would taste better to her.  It was good to see her drink a little and to hear the crunch of a bite of kibble.  However, she was still quite lethargic and found it difficult to walk on her own.

This morning she was sitting up for the first time in days!  She still looked at the water as if she really, really didn't want it but that is the way I look at water when I've been ill, so I understand.  I brushed her long fur before leaving for town.  We're expecting a winter storm to hit later today and we're nearly out of milk... need I say more?

I drove Christopher's little car to the grocery store.  He drove our car to work since he plans to leave early and drive into "The City" to see a movie at the IMAX theater.  Hmmm... driving in the City and a possible storm on the drive home... he gets the Buick.  :)

Both my husband and Victoria were standing at the door to meet me when I returned.  He said she had eaten kibble and drank some water and so far, kept it down!  Another good sign, she is perched again on the back of the sofa with her nose pressed against the window.  She is once again becoming her nosey curious self.  I told her we should have asked for prayer immediately.

It was scary to see her with the same symptoms which Sasha and Storm had when they were dying.  With them (at ages sixteen and then eighteen), there came a resolution that it was their time.  They had been born in the same litter and had lived long lives.  I think it is kinda' cute that God let Sasha live two years longer than her pushy sister so she could be Queen of the House for awhile.  :)

I'll keep you updated on Victoria but so far I can tell you prayer works.  We did nothing else for her since I wrote you last night!   Will be back later today with a regular post where I'm answering a few question from the comments lately.

Bren, this is such great news. I am anxious to tell Avery when she gets out of school today. Mark will be picking her up and I will let her know the prayers were answered. She is a beautiful cat and I pray she continues to do well. trish Give Miss Vicki a hug for us.

I'm so happy that she is perking up. Having a sick pet is equivalent to a sick child!!

Pet her for me!

I am so glad your sweet Victoria is better. I stumbled upon your blog quite by accident, and I just love it! It has quickly become a favorite.

I will pray for your kitty. God is concernced about our furry babies, and I know He hears our prayers. I hope she continues to improve and I will read your blog daily to check up on her.

Give her a hug for me! I have 3 cats that are so special to me. Their names are Prunella, Basil, and Cooter Earl Brown. (Don't ask!)

Take care, and stay warm.

Oh I'm so glad she's doing better! Don't you wish cats could talk so she could tell you how she was feeling?

I just noticed that Joyce in the comments above has a cat named Basil. We had a dear sweet kitty-boy who was also named Basil and I have very fond memories of him. When we got him he was a tiny scrap of a kitten, and the vet said "Basil..eh...that's a pretty big-sounding name for such a tiny kitten!" He grew up to be a big-boned, huge-pawed 19 pound hunk of a cat, so I guess he grew into his name. :)

I tell my kids sometimes that God gave us a special gift by creating "miniature tigers" who can live in our homes. What other wild animal comes in mini domesticated form? (Maybe there's one I haven't thought of?)

Oh wonderful! But, of course, prayer works. Reminds me of what John says whenever I say that we need to pray about this or that. He sighs deeply, rolls his eyes and groans, "Oh no, it's come to that!" Cracks me up every time because it does suggest that there are certain things we feel we can handle on our own. Ridiculous. Gentle little pets for Victoria and long may she enjoy the comforts of your home.

I knew that He would be faithful and spare you yet another loss. He does indeed know what our hearts can bear. So happy to hear the news.

That is wonderful news Brenda. We'll keep her in our prayers. Those furry little creatures bring such joy, it's hard when they aren't well.
Warmly,
Tracey
