I love this holiday. It is not one associated with Mother Expectations.
Sub-zero wind chills but sunny...
Christopher bought pizzas for lunch...
The guys watched the University's team on TV... while I napped.
Dinner was cheese and crackers...
Then a solitary evening Tea Time with cinnamon toast and Candy Cane Lane tea...
and
Celtic Women on PBS...
It doesn't get much better than that... I am rested.

Sounds much like our own day minus the pizza and, blessed us, we're getting another day just like it today. I should be reading a book, but I am reading blogs instead...what fun! Enjoy this day, too, Brenda. It's so lovely to be rested.
Oh, ditto what Jane said.....I cannot imagine what "rested" must feel like right now. Good for you, Brenda!! Your New Year' Day sounded wonderful.
Yes, to rested! Yes, to ball games! Yes, to tea, cheese and crackers!
Happy New Year!

Sounds like a peaceful day in the midst of a busy life. Perfect. Happy New Year to you and yours.
I love that you are rested and ready to start the new year! I also love the tea pot, I love pink roses and you are so lucky to find the matching tea cup. Have a great day.
Sounds like a cozy corner of Heaven!

Sounds like the perfect day. Hugs
How did you get round toast? By the way, can you explain what a crumpet is?

I, too, love Candy Cane Lane tea and Celtic Woman. What a wonderful way to spend time.
It sounds like you had a wonderful and relaxed New Year's Day. Mine was busy until our family arrived to watch our team at the Rose Bowl. Then I wasn't so busy as my sweetheart BBQ'd hamburgers and everyone else brought the other food. I just had to put the paper plates on the kitchen bar counter and add the condiments for the burgers! After that it was easy - sit back, enjoy the game and the people I love so much! Watching our grandkids enjoy the game and each other was fun. They are growing up too fast! I like your choice of solitary tea and entertainment. Think I'll do something similar this evening! Thanks for the inspiration.
Have a wonderful new year filled with blessings abundant, peace beyond understanding, joy abounding and love without measure!

Lovely thrift finds!! I simply must make some time to do more of that this year...small things can help us feel happy!!
Blessings,

Sounds like some good reading! I've got "Pilgrim's Inn" and "The Bird in the Tree", but I don't have the third book and can't seem to find it anywhere, so I wasn't sure I should start the trilogy until I found a copy. I love her writing!
Take care of yourself! Exercising and losing weight...sounds like what I need to do, too! =0)
wow! then you found a matching tea cup? amazing!
