Christmas dinner

I hope you had a great Christmas.  Ours was very quiet but enjoyable.  Both the guys enjoyed sleeping in yesterday morning but I was out of bed very early to catch a showing of The Joy of Music's Christmas program... lovely!

We started the week with pretty snow but that changed to sleet and heavy rain and now back to snow.  At least we didn't get the blizzard everyone just to our west had to survive.

I usually use our wedding china for Christmas but this year I brought out the girlie girlie Royal Albert china. I haven't had occasion to use it lately.  I love this china, one of the best Goodwill purchases I ever found.  About four years ago, I purchased the entire service for eight people (including serving pieces) for a little over $60.00.

Oh... the dessert in the china bowl is Eagle Brand's creamy cheese pie.  I hadn't made it for so long that Christopher didn't remember having it for Christmas Eve.  I used to make it all the time but especially for our annual Christmas Eve hor'dourves dinner.

The sidebar on the blog may look different.  I changed a few things around just to make it look "cleaner" but everything is there.  The music widget and the "Deepening the Pantry" links are all further down than before.

Added Note:  The cherry cheesecake pie recipe has been added to my recipe blog... here.

I see them all but for some reason, not all are being published.

Just in case you come back later and don't see yours... I didn't reject it! :)

Beautiful place setting! I'm thankful your Christmas was enjoyable - and quiet, like ours. :o)

It was the four of us and that alone makes for merry hearts. I bought a sirloin roast for less than a chuck roast would've cost and put it in the crockpot with mushrooms and Lipton's 'onion mushroom' packets. Whipped potatoes, oven roasted brussel sprouts and carrots. Mmm. Lizzie made a pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Nice meal - only problem was that I have a cold and couldn't taste much of it but the others said it was quite tasty so..good!

So glad that you had a wonderful and quiet day. I have a feeling that with that nasty storm, a lot of families had quieter than usual days. Your table looks beautiful.

What a strange thing to be happening with your comments. Hope that it gets straightened around.

Beautiful table...

For Christmas this year we went casual with our meal to have a relaxed and fun day....Homemade Ham and Turkey subs with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion - yum! A wonderful jello salad, chips and dip, just easy and wonderful.

Time with all our kids, my parents, a phone call with my husband's sister, fun in the snow, games, music...it was a lovely day.

We had a quiet day as well. Just us 3...so the 24th when getting groceries, we got a few movies. Watched a couple of them. Hubby and I only do that about once a year or so. Daughter called on webcam and we got to see all of them for a bit too. Had a turkey dinner again...we never tire of that. And just ice cream for dessert...how simple is that?

Your dishes are very pretty indeed. It is a surprize what you can find in thrift shops sometimes!
Blessings, Elizabeth
