I had planned to write another pantry post yesterday but... life happened. :)
Sasha has stopped eating and drinking. She has lost a lot of weight these past few weeks and we knew things did not look good. We're giving her a lot of love and shedding tears as we know a visit to her vet will soon be necessary if she doesn't begin to eat and drink soon...
We were out early yesterday morning to buy new tires for the Buick. We knew we had to replace two tires before taking the trip to New England but they found a nail in one of our "good" tires. Now we know why it had a very slow leak. Sigh... we had them patch it and it will become our spare.
We had an hour between finishing at the tire shop and my doctor's appointment so we stopped by the Mission Thrift Store. I found the cutest tea cozy for a quarter. It may have been donated by the same person who gave the pretty brocade looking cozy I found last week for a dollar. I'll take a picture of it soon. It's crocheted in the form of a teapot and so much... fun.
I love getting inspiration from "decorating" blogs... or at least blogs who feature decorating and entertaining. Lately I'm getting a lot of inspiration from Daisy Cottage. I've long enjoyed that blog but it is bringing out my love for color... perhaps also an influence from reading The Gentle Art of Domesticity... both inspiring my 25 cent tea cozy purchase. :)
I saw my new doctor at the clinic yesterday. He's an older African American gentleman and just so nice and understanding, he also knows a lot about Type 1 diabetes (an answer to prayer!). He believes I need to begin taking far more insulin than I have been so we will see how that helps. :)
Today I'm driving my husband to the Veteran's Hospital in Danville (Illinois). He cannot drive himself since he will have a test that requires a mild anesthetic. Which takes me back to the beginning of this post... and why we had to put new tires on the car... another sigh.
By the way, I am SO far behind in answering e-mails that require more than a yes or no answer. All of a sudden, life became busy at the same time the garden needed as much attention as a new baby. Very soon I'll be able to write more.
I'll continue the pantry posts tomorrow.

So sorry about the extra expenses. Last time that happened to us, not so long ago, we looked at each and sighed and said, "Well, tis GOD's money and if HE wants it spent that way, tis ok. And at least we had it, though of course, we had other places we would prefer to put it!!"
Hope all will go well with your diabetes treatment. One of our friends said his doctor told him the goal is help him hang on for another 5 years cause they feel a cure is around the corner. I suppose you may have seen where Israel medicine seems to think they have a solution that will soon be out too. My hubby and I look forward to that day too! Hubby takes meds some of the time and I am resisting that at this point...wanting to loose more weight and do more walking and see if I can keep things at bay a bit longer before going on meds. It is hard enough to manage my high blood pressure meds without adding more to the mix!!
Blessings from a fellow traveler!
Elizabeth
I am so sorry your sweet Sasha is not well.
This morning I take my husband for a second endoscopy to follow some ulcers/lesions...sounds like we are living some similar things today...

I'm sorry to hear about Sasha. :( I hope that these next few days don't end up being too difficult.
I spent my first 7 1/2 years in Danville, IL and still have family there :-) Such a small world!
I hope that it's something easily treated and that Sasha will be fine soon. Our cats and dog are special to me and enrich my life.
We, too, have been through the tire miseries lately. Had to get a new set for our car about 4 months ago (my husband has to drive 50 miles to his job and we have to have dependable tires) and a couple of weeks ago we ran over a wire and it had to be fixed. Sigh. Such are the vicissitudes of life.
Your mention of Sasha brought tears to my eyes. I know you love her so. Although we lost all our animals from illness and old age some years ago it still hurts. You already know that feeling. They are so precioius and give so much love. I hope she feels better today. Jody
Praying for you and family :o)

I am so sorry to hear about Sasha. I hope she begins to eat and drink soon, but if not, I know you will continue to give her lots of love and cuddles into her final hours. Oh, what is life without cats? I will hold you, Sasha, and your family in my prayers.
Please be safe out and about.
Oh, I am sorry about your kittie. Praying that she will get better. We have an 8-year-old tom (neutered) black and white tuxedo and I know how I would feel if he was sick. Actually, back in April, we found out he is diabetic. That is how he was, he lost weight and would drink, but not eat. He now takes Lantus twice a day and is fine. Hope everything else goes fine for you. Much love - Raquel XO
Brenda, will be thinking if you and Sarah....it's tough.
Brenda,
You are all in our thoughts today; may you have safe journeys, a well kittie, and better diabetic care! If you are like I am, I can handle it all except the kittie. They are special. Kiss her nose and stroke that special spot on her back.
Best wishes... Matty
I hope Sasha is better soon. Pets are a part of our family - I always worry about ours, too.
Oh you poor dears.I could not imagine losing our sweet cat Shadow. His fur covered self has so enriched our lives. He is about 3 years old and is a rescued kitty and we just love him.My heart really goes out to you on this.Love~Sharon
I too am so sorry about your extra expenses. I know how difficult that can be when you live on a fixed income. Hugs..
Brenda, I am so sorry about Sasha and I pray that she will be better. We love those sweet pets. I
pray that all will be better. You are in my prayers.
Sorry to hear of your cat being ill. We lost our dear family cat this year from kidney failure and it was horrible to see her suffer. Treatment is very costly and we tried some but it wasn't going to stop the inevitable. She lost a lot of weight and wouldn't eat or drink at the end stage. We put her down, because we knew she was suffering. She felt "bony" when we pet her and had to be carried.
This might be something you might want to have checked out. Our cat was older as well.

I will be keeping you and precious Sasha in my thoughts and prayers. Bless you both as you go through this together.

I'm so sorry to hear about Sasha! I know how hard it was to lose your other kitty and having been there with out Cocker Spaniel...believe I know the pain!
