No cost decorating

Yesterday I was able to perform some "no cost decorating" in my family room. I'd been looking at some online pictures of a beautiful country cottage when I found myself admiring their French doors.

Then I started thinking about the French doors in my family room and wondered.... hmmm, what would happen if I removed those drapes I really didn't like?

I pulled one of my dining room chairs into the family room and (perhaps showing a lack of common sense) stood on the chair and removed the drapes from the decorative brass rod that held them. Wow. Amazing. Gorgeous.

I knew there was beautiful woodwork behind the drapes but it was just like the picture. It entirely changed the look of that room... and without paying a dime.

I love serendipity decorating moments.

Don't you just love it when you can do these types of things for your home at little or even better no cost. Your decorating sounds just so pretty.

Ohhhh, this sounds exciting! I hope that we'll get to see a photo one day. (I'm glad that this story has a happy ending after that description of climbing on chairs, etc.)

Oh, how fun! I love "free" decorating sessions like that.

Oh that's not good to stand on a chair with no one around you!!

Isn't it amazing how something little like removing or changing the drapes can totally change a room. To me doing little things like that is way more fun than going out and buying a bunch of new furniture (although that can be fun too)!

I'll ship TWG 3 next week. I think I still have your address.

Have a great weekend!

I had a neighbor when I was a new homemaker. Her rooms often looked so new and refreshing. All she did she said was to move pictures and pillows etc from one room to another throughout the year. Her house had the same color pallet throughout and so this was an easy do...basic colors on the walls and each room had another accent color. I have used that idea ever since. As the person who is home all the time even if others do not notice I know things look new and fun to me! :) Yes I agree a picture later would be nice. French door are something I always loved. Jody
