One of "those" days

Did you ever have one of "those" days when you realize by the afternoon you probably shouldn't have gotten out of bed?

The Buick finally gave up the transmission ghost and we dropped it off to be checked (I drove behind my hubby on the highway with emergency lights blinking since he could only drive in 1st gear). Later we received the news we expected, a $1,500+ estimate. We told them to go ahead and fix it... sigh. We knew it was coming.

Then on the way home, we stopped by the health clinic to pick up insulin that was suppose to help me get through to when my three month supply came in. I had opened my last pen yesterday. I should have realized the lady who is usually so nice was in a bad mood. She admitted to having a cold and flu (which I've also had so I know the symptoms).

She was convinced I had already picked up the insulin and sent me home without any and told me to contact the clinic's pharmacy over the phone to try to obtain a few samples until my regular supply comes in the middle of January. Sigh...

I did call but I did not hear from them today. It wasn't until this evening that I realized what the problem was... she had forgotten I'd stopped by a few weeks ago to give her the new prescription to send in and at the time we BOTH realized my doctor had not ordered enough for me to get through until the next shipment. (I receive my insulin free through the drug company program but I go through the people at the clinic to order it.)

She was suppose to order an emergency supply for me and the insulin she was talking about was my original amount in November. She had already increased the amount I will receive later this month but she had forgotten about the extra insulin I was to pick up. So I was right (that I hadn't picked up the extra) but she was right (that I had picked up the original supply in Nov. that was not enough).

Did I mention my cell phone is dying?

I often think of the title of a sermon a former pastor gave called The Inconvenience of Being In Need. Indeed, a lack of time or money or health does make everything less convenient. However, if we stop to think of it... life is inconvenient.

I did the only thing a sane person would do today... I took a long afternoon nap. So, there are still e-mails not returned from WEEKS ago and snail mail thank you notes not sent out. You are all such a huge blessing to me and I am so sorry to be behind.

I'm off to make some sugar free Swiss Miss hot chocolate and read something soothing. Yes, only chocolate will help on a day like this.

The good news is it can only get better from there. ;)
Sorry you had such a hectic day. I'll keep it all in prayer.

Now that sermon sounds like something that we should all read or hear.

Sometimes, when things like this happen, I actually find myself wondering if I'm going crazy. So glad that you remembered what had happened and I certainly hope that it gets straightened around quickly.

Yup, a day like this one requires a good nap...

Dear Brenda, I send you hugs and please know that you are in my prayers on this "Jonah Day"...prayers for a perfect outcome for all dilemmas and concerns in your life. I know that when it rains it pours at times. That being said, I admire how you lift up your eyes to the Lord for your strength and rest in the knowledge that this too shall pass. Tomorrow will be a better day...so keep your eyes on all that is good and right and lovely and true my sweet friend. I am sending good thoughts and prayers for miracles large and small in your life.
God Bless You.
Warmly,
Tracey

Dear Brenda, I stopped to say a prayer for you before commenting. I hope you get the insulin straightened out so you have the right amount. I think you are doing the right things and that this cloud will pass! A nap and hot chocolate are good ideas!

Sorry it's been such a bad day. Were you able to call the clinic to explain the mix up? I'm sure it'll get straightened out. Too bad about the car, but at least it's something fixable, you didn't have to junk it.

Enjoy your hot chocolate!
