God is still on the throne

Whoever gets elected, I know Who really is in charge.

Having said that... it was great to "pull that lever" today.

Actually, it was more fun when we did pull a lever. I loved to take my kids with me to vote and have the curtain close so dramatically behind us when we pulled the lever.

Somehow just pushing a couple buttons doesn't have that same affect. :)

Christopher is voting in his FIRST presidential election. I told him to vote at the Presbyterian church where his dad and I were married. They give you coffee and cookies after you vote.

First-time voting is so exciting - good for him! Plus, they give out coffee and cookies? What a special thing to do. :)

Another first-time voter! Love to hear about that and may his candidate win! :D

Coffee and cookies? What a delightful idea...wish that every place did that. We noted that the gal checking off our names had a glazed donut and a cold cup of coffee. Poor workers! It's a long day for them.

And, yes, God is still on the throne.

Now, coffee and cookies...would have made it worth while! I didn't have a lever to pull, no curtain to go around. I could only go the location designated for me to go to. I used a pen and marked the center of an arrow...that's all. Not exciting at all. It's over...done...kaput.

Our youngest voted for the first time today and is very proud of herself. :) She went with us early this morning and is still wearing her "I'm a Georgia Voter" sticker.

Hey! We didn't get coffee and cookies! :)

Amen! God is still in control, even after the voting today...keeping that in perspective keeps my jittery nerves down. ;-)

I only wish I had been served coffee and cookies after voting!

Can you pick where you want to vote in Indiana? In Ohio we get assigned to locations. Where I voted the church has a nice bake and craft sale going on at the same time, but no freebies, alas!

I loved seeing the huge turnout today. Paul and I always took our kids to vote with us when they were little and now they have all voted in every election they were able to.

Yes, I miss those booths with the lever and the curtain as well. My two boys always enjoyed going along when we did that. They still enjoy going along, but it's just not quite the same.

Praise God that He is still on the throne and will continue to take care of us no matter who wins this election. That thought also keeps my nerves calmer, too. I have really bathed this election in prayer -- May God's will be done.

I got to fill in the little oval with a pen, and no curtain around me. Kind of a boring setting!

But it's done, and it's now sit and wait. Whatever happens, we know it is being guided from Him above. And whoever is elected, it is our duty to respect and obey them unless we are asked to do something against His Word. I'm a bit fearful, but do know He is in charge, and all will go according to His plan.

And God Bless America!

I agree with you, that lever gave some dramatic emphasis.

Brenda - Beautifully said. But your writing is always lovely. The verse that has stuck with me all day was from my Psalm reading this morning:
"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will trust in the name of the Lord our God." Psalm 20:7
My trust is fully and confidently in the name of the Lord. In Jesus,

Thank you for saying that, God is in control, no matter what happens.

My youngest daughter voted for the first time today also!

Coffee and cookies, what a great idea. I've never had that at a polling place.

It looks like Obama is going to win, and America will change as we know it.

I am very saddened in my spirit for my country and the lack of ANY discernment of it's citizens.

It's encouraging to hear 'God is still in control'! I needed that little reminder from another believer :) You have a lovely blog by the way.

This is a sad day, and I believe the masses who voted for this man are naive, deceived people. They have no clue as to what they are in for, but I am reminded that our Lord will always provide for and protect his people in the midst of trouble. He is our strength, not our president. I will see what I can do today to bring a smile in my own household, despite this election. cathy

God IS in control. I'm Canadian and we just had our elections a few weeks back. The lowest voting ever happened in Canada in all of history, only 56% went to the Polls. SIGH.

So now we have a Prime Minister also that as Cathy (anony.) stated: I believe the masses who voted for this man are naive, deceived people.

I keep reminding myself , "God allowed this to happen". So I rest in His soveriency, His mercy and His grace to carry us through these times.
GOD IS STILL ON THE THRONE!

On the flip side I don't believe it was a sad day at all. This means so much to so many who never thought they would see such a day.

I'm wondering if some people have amnesia about these last troubling 8 years under Bush? What's been so positive, so spiritual or righteous about having a republican in charge?

Yes, God is in control and I believe He will work through President Obama. Let's not try and judge the man, that's God's job, not ours. We all need to focus on the planks in our own eyes.
