Blog envy and lovely days

Hi, my name is Brenda and I have blog envy. Okay, don't throw anything at me. You've had it, too. Who can read The Pioneer Woman's blog and not want to live that life for just a couple days... and have 10,000 comments! I can't tell you how many times I've read Ree's writing and felt better about the world. :)

Actually, I'm satisfied with my own humble journey but that is a fascination, isn't it? I truly believe one of the main reasons blogs are so popular is we get to push back a curtain and peek into the lives of other people.

That's also the reason I don't have any counter on the blog (I did add FEEDJIT as I'm fascinated to see how people visit here from all over the world!) For you see, true confession time, it would be so easy for me to look at numbers which would make me feel too good or not so good... and that would get in the way of why I'm here.

I had a very nice day with my "nursing student friend" from church picking me up for my doctor's appointment. They let her stay with me while my doctor's nurse read over all of my blood glucose readings and changed the amount I'm taking morning and evening. Then we stopped by Target for just a few much needed items and she treated me to lunch at Applebees! We both ordered Santa Fe salads... yum. What a treat!

That was followed by more time at my home. The poor thing has to spend ten more hours with me next week for her credit but I think both of us have been surprised at how much fun we've had together. I miss having a daughter around. :)

I had defrosted a pork loin roast and had it cooking in the Crock Pot all day. That gave me time to rest. I'm much better but today was tiring, most likely due to seasonal allergies more than getting over the flu. I had time to make pumpkin bars as a treat for the guys to have this evening. Christopher can take some to the bookstore tomorrow (to take the temptation of eating too many away from me).

I am still so far behind in e-mails! Hopefully I can get caught up soon. Just when I think I have computer time, it seems like something pops up that must be accomplished here at home. Now it is getting a lot of outside chores done before we have a freeze.

I just love the picture above. So far I don't think the guys have noticed the teddy bear or the Beanie Baby turkey in the kitchen. It's the only room in the house that is truly all mine and you can tell it with the yellow and red colors... and Beanie Baby turkeys. :)

Brenda, you don't need to have blog envy. Your blog is always uplifting to me and I find it so interesting to see the things you do on a daily basis. I popped over to Pioneer Woman and it is a neat blog. Her kids are adorable. She does seem to be a really good writer, but so are you Miss B. Your little turkey and bear look cute. Your things look cheery! Your friend that is doing the project sounds sweet. That was very nice of her to take you to lunch. I would love to see her finished report. I'll bet it will be neat.

A hearty amen to what Trish said. Besides, I visit you daily. I only visit Ree weekly. :D

I do like your pic of a cozy corner of your kitchen.

I'm glad you had a good day, and you are feeling better! I think we all suffer from blog envy sometimes. I enjoy Ree's blog too, though I only read it occasionally. I do enjoy her humor. I read your blog everyday too! The picture of your kichen is cute. God bless.

I visit Ree too and a lot of blogs, but the big ones are ones I seldom comment on, and you know, it is the comments and ones in return which mean visiting you is like sitting down with an old friend and chatting.
Blogging for me, is all about making friends and sharing parts of our lives together.
I love visiting you here - from across the sea!

I read Pioneer Woman now and then (where as I read yours all the time) and am in awe of her cooking talents.

No need to have blog envy. Yours is a very different blog and fulfills a very different need.

Your student sounds like a sweet girl! That was so nice of her to take you to Applebee's. I love that place. I like the Chinese Chicken Salad but my husband usually gets the Santa Fe so I know how yummy that one is too!

Your's is the first blog I look at. It means that much to me. If the post is not new to me I still check to see if there are any new comments. I have found wounderful bloggers from your comments section. Thank you all ;-)!! Our Lord has given each of us many talents, and Brenda this is truely one of yours. Honestly I have envyed you when I see your home and the beautiful lot it is on and wish I had a neighbor just like YOU to be aruond! I agree with the other commenters on their points too.

I can't say I haven't had that . I have been having a hard time and just blogged about just to live the live of a few I go to on a daily basis. After hearing some of their stores I see their live is hard and the pictures are beautiful.

I enjoy reading Pioneer Woman also, and especially enjoy her cooking pages. But I visit you everyday because, from you, I get much-needed spiritual refreshment. You offer something that few other blogs can supply - wisdom, gentleness, and openness.

I'm visitng from afar and enjoying the words that you write. I too suffer from blog envy - but then were all unique and have our own ways of writing styles. Enjoying yours anyway!
