A very quick doctor's update

Just for those who knew I was going to the doctor this morning, after over two hours sitting in his office, I came away with a change of long term insulin and the way I'll be taking shots from now on... instead of two to three shots a day I'll be taking four to five.

Actually, I find them much easier to deal with than pricking my fingers for the blood glucose readings. I'm not allowed to use my arm instead of my fingers since as a Type 1 diabetic, I can go into a low blood sugar episode and they don't show up well on the arm... rats!

My bg readings had spiked again to near FOUR HUNDRED this morning so he's doing some intense insulin monitoring this next week, until I get over this flu completely. That's why they don't like diabetics to get the flu, it becomes a Catch 22... the flu makes your blood sugar spike and then the spiked blood sugar makes it hard to get over the flu. Sigh... such is life.

Anyway, I'm still in the danger zone but on my way out of it. You know, I go to a county clinic (since I'm not insured) but I just love the medical workers there. I find I get treated even better than when I was insured and saw the best endocrinologist in the area.

My eyesight is still a tad blurry and doing anything brings great fatigue but I am definitely on the mend! Thanks so much for your comments, e-mails, and most of all your prayers.

Brenda, I grinned reading about your precious granddaughter asking how you were... It's what we've all be wondering. Glad that some changes are in place that will help you to get well and stay well. I'm sighing a sigh of relief knowing that you've been well cared for by your clinic.

Your daughter sounds like a sweet love of a gal. I'm not in the least surprised.

"been wondering"

How is it that I can leave out entire words, letters, phrases? Moving too fast!

Brenda, I'm so glad you went to see the doctor! I hope the changes he is making will help you feel better soon. I guess you can't get a flu shot. I'm not looking forward to mine. Last year I got sick from the flu mist!

Brenda, I'm glad that you are doing better, and were able to see the doctor. I hope that you will continue to get well, with no more high blood sugars. Will keep praying. God bless.
