Happy birthday to me?

I'm up off the sofa just to let you know I'm alive.

The tooth extraction went much as I expected. The area was so sensitive that even with extra Novocaine given, it still hurt like... heck. It brought back memories of my second C-section when I was told "all" I would feel was the pressure. Uh... huh.

While waiting for the Novocaine to take affect, I could tell I was very weak physically and that my blood sugar levels were low (my heart was beating quite fast). I was getting somewhat frightened when I felt this sense, like I KNEW lots of people had been praying. That was when I was able to get calm. Thank you.

The dentist and his assistant "prescribed" a big Frosty for me, which my hubby did purchase on the way home. It really was what the doctor ordered, although I ended being able to get only part of it down. Since my husband has been known to crave a Wendy's Frosty, I knew he was hoping I couldn't finish it. :)

I'm to take all the remaining antibiotics so that means a couple more days on the sofa. The pain pills are there as needed. Believe me, one of them was needed before I started the Frosty. That is the only way I got off the sofa.

This past week has been quite strange with sleeping off and on all day. At least that helped the days go by quickly. Do you know what kind of dreams one can have while heavily medicated and watching daytime TV? At least they were good dreams last Friday when I watched a Brambley Hedge Marathon (Elizabeth would have loved it!).

A real tip... don't watch anything on the SciFi Channel when taking pain medication.

I'll "celebrate" my birthday later. It may be a couple of days before I can write again here or through an e-mail. I need my pillow.

I'm glad the worst of it is behind you. We'll continue to pray as you recover.

Next year, let your blog friends plan your birthday, okay? No dentist, no pain pills, no antibiotics....

Thanks for the update. I've been checking frequently the last week and adding my prayers. I know you probably didn't "feel" like writing, but you did for all of us who care about you. I had to laugh about the sci fi comment - I can barely watch it without pain medication! Hey, maybe you can store potato chips in the tooth space for a late night snack once it's healed! (he he). Anyway, Brenda, have a blessed birthday!

I am sorry you had to go through so much pain on a day that should have been special, but it is good to have that nasty tooth out and you will be on the mend soon! I am praying against dry socket - with the antibiotics, it should not be a problem, but since I have had it with every extraction, it always comes to mind first and I pray ... it is nasty. May the Lord bless and keep you - I will pray for rapid healing and pleasant dreams.

Take it easy and know that many of us are praying for you. I was out of town the last couple of days and had to check on you as soon as I got home. Glad you are doing better.
