Running on adrenaline

I will be so glad when this weekend is over. Yesterday hubby and I ended up being away from home all afternoon, which was not planned. So... I was baking last night instead of resting. Christopher was suppose to spend the entire night at another graduate's "all nighter" but he ended up calling me (from a deep sleep) at 1:30 in the morning. He was having terrible allergy symptoms and decided to drive home, asking for prayer as he was driving. His throat and eyes had swollen. He did arrive home safely but said he had a difficult drive.

I was concerned about the allergies since he would be out in even thicker woods than we are near (mold just loves flora, fauna, and trees). I think it was about 3:00 when I finally was able to get back to sleep. We're still a one car family so I dropped him off at work this morning (we were both sleep walking) so I could do last minute grocery shopping for tomorrow's menu. Now I have spent hours (and hours) in the kitchen but most everything is finished. I still have to make the frosting and frost the cupcakes and I have to make the lemon cake.

Tomorrow morning I will assemble the sandwiches and add any last minute touches. Christopher is getting his dip (as noted in previous post)... sigh. Otherwise, most of the menu is the same. Instead of the shrimp salad sandwiches, I used the frozen salad shrimp for a favorite "cheese ball", which I serve as a dip by adding some extra cocktail sauce. I figured I had enough sandwiches and I could use more "finger foods" such as dips, crackers, etc. I bought two mini french breads at the grocery store, which I'll slice and use for open face vegetarian sandwiches. The lentil salad (mentioned in the last post) is also great to serve vegetarians.

I have the camera batteries charging and if the weather cooperates, I'll get good outside pictures tomorrow. I still have many miles (and dishes) to go before I sleep. Once I finish in the kitchen, hubby is going to give the floor a good scrubbing. I am so thankful there is little housework (outside of constantly cleaning the kitchen and doing dishes) to do since we did all that Spring cleaning and decluttering before going to Lancaster County.

I just need to do a little "spit and shine"... well, not literally... but you know what I mean.

As for me... I'll be back Monday... maybe. I may sleep all day.

Adrenaline is a wonderful thing - a gift from God. :)

You have worked so hard for this big day. I'm praying that you will be able to relax and enjoy the event itself and savor every moment with precious friends and family.

Congratulations on a job well done!

Here's to hopes that you finished all, and that today is lovely.

Naturally, my suggestion is, DO sleep all day on Monday! :-) Plenty of time after that, to blog and post lovely pictures. And to do anything and everything else. :-)
