A quick hello

I am subbing at the bookstore for one of the regular part-time ladies (an acquaintance I'm very fond of). They definitely "under staff" in the Summer and she could find no one on the regular sub list to fill in for her on a Saturday. So... I figured I could help her out and earn a little gas money.

I've been telling Christopher for a couple weeks now that he can "make it" to work even though he has been suffering very bad allergy symptoms from the heat and humidity. Now Mom has to give herself the same speech... HOW am I going to stand for seven hours today? We both can do it, though. If I can get through a couple weeks at the beginning and end of semesters, I can do it for one shortened work day on Saturday (even if I am not working for a bonus!). God provides in many ways and sometimes... often... it is through work. :)

I asked Christopher who the "Saturday Manager" is for today and I found out it is the younger guy who is still single and loves it when I bring in baking. So I'm taking a few of the brownies I made for the guys to him today. He is one of the young people who does not have a great opinion of Christians in general and conservative Christians specifically. I find I warm the hearts of some people with food. Hey, it has worked for Italian grandmothers and Jewish moms for centuries.

My sister called me last night and as soon as I picked up the phone, she said she had bad news. Her hubby, one of my favorite people on the planet, was in the hospital and diagnosed with terminal cancer. He is in his 80s (she is 20 years older than me and he is much older than her!) so treatment options are extremely limited.

I am going to write a letter to him tomorrow, once again sharing the salvation Jesus brought to us... the Lamb of God who came to bring the world back to the Father. Please pray that I have the right words, boldness mixed with love.

Now, I have twenty minutes to get ready!

Praying with you for you dear sister and brother-in-law. May God do a wonderful work of grace in their hearts and be their comforter during this time.

Love and Prayers,
Carrot Top

You can count on my prayers too. I guess we all have loved ones to be prayed into God's kingdom.

Boy can I relate to the seven hours on your feet issue. I took a temporary job in a bookstore for the summer and started just last week. The first day, my legs were screaming at me, sending out S-O-S signals and waving white flags. I made it through the week, but now I'm thinking about tomorrow with just a bit of anxiety.

Joining you in prayer... I know that the Lord will annoint your words. At times like these, one can be very open.

About the allergies...I find that local honey really helps...a lot. I don't know if you can eat honey, though.

Baked goods really do help open doors and hearts. I've found it to work particularly well when I make them with extra love.

Just read about your brother-in-law's cancer. I'm very sorry that he has to go through this.
