What a difference a day makes

You wouldn't believe how much better I feel today. Yesterday I was still thinking it would be days (and days) before I could do some much needed housework. As I sit here, I have already vacuumed and decluttered the house, did a quick bathroom cleaning, and I sorted through papers to either file... throw away... or put aside to read.

Part of the reason for my ability to accomplish so much is not only feeling human again but both the guys are away from home. That always seems to help. My husband was going to meet his former major professor for lunch on campus so he is running all of my planned errands, too. I may venture out again on Friday if the weather cooperates. It feels good to... feel good... but I'm not quite up to getting out and about, yet.

It's hard to believe his former major professor is still teaching. My husband did finish his Master's degree at age thirty and I think his professor is now in his 70s. He is an expert in his field so the University is happy to keep him employed.

I have had such encouraging e-mails and comments. As all bloggers know, one sits at a computer and types away not knowing who will read their words. Since Coffee Tea Books and Me is not a craft blog, or one that has a lot of pretty pictures each day, or being written by a famous person... I am always amazed that people actually read each day. :)

As I have said before, I was encouraged for years (a decade or two) to write a book about what I've learned through the various trials. I did write and teach Bible studies for awhile but I never was a highly energetic person, even before developing a chronic illness. So mix in homeschooling a hyperactive boy and something had to go. How quickly those years have gone, grade 12 seemed an eternity away and here it is. I managed to homeschool through grade 11 and I still will teach his Government class this summer.

Otherwise, those years are behind me and I'm letting the community college prepare him for a college career in a scientific field. I'm glad they are doing it. Even his father couldn't help him with his math homework a couple nights ago. He was an engineer! I say that only to emphasize how much easier it is for me to blog rather than write a book.

It seems a lot of people are blogging about frugal living these days. I'll share some of our experiences tomorrow or Friday (hopefully). I am definitely shocked each time I go grocery shopping. It reminds me so much of the beginning of the Recession of the 70s. My daughter called this morning to tell me she had placed an order for wheat (we both have wheat grinders) and it had more than doubled in the last six months. Yikes...

Well, my guys just called and they are on their way home. I wonder if they will notice how nice the house looks? I even put away the stack(s) of books I had on the coffee table an dining room table. I don't know if you all do this but when I have a stack of books I want to read, I tend to keep them all together... as if I could read them all by osmosis because they are stacked on each other. I sorted through them, putting those I am not reading immediately back on the shelf. I must admit to my finiteness and read only one at a time. There really are so many books and... so little time.

I may be getting my computer back today. That would make keeping up with e-mails and visiting other sites much, much easier.

Despite the fact that you don't have a craft blog and you don't post as many photos as some bloggers do and you're not famous, yet, you have a very interesting blog and I enjoy reading it.

So glad you are feeling better! i always enjoy reading your blog, even though I don't comment everytime. It's my turn for a sore throat and cough, so it's back to the lemon tea for me.

I love to leave stacks of books around and read a bit in each one. I am glad that you are feeling better, and that you had the house to yourself to get organized. So glad that you are getting your computer back. Blessings, Karen

I second that on the 'cozy' blog thing. Reading this always helps me wind down and relax.

I so enjoy your blog. I feel like you and I are kindred spirits. I will read something your have posted and I will find myself saying "that's exactly how I feel"! I had to laugh about your stacks of books - I have that also. I will go through them, organize them, purchase more, stack them...if I live to be 100 I can't possibly read them all but I continue to think I will. Thankfully, I usually pick them up at the library book fair, garage sales or used books websites.

I enjoy every post you write. I have printed out several that are particularly meaningful or helpful to me, and re-read them. Your words and wisdom have been a great encouragement to me.

Your blog is always a very pleasant read. I enjoy learning about your daily life; you can make anything interesting. It's a gift!

Now that things will be slowing down for you a little more, perhaps you'll find the motivation to write a book. You definitely have the talent, Brenda.

I am currently reading a devotional (that I won't mention by name) and it is the most insipid, vapid mush. Five minutes spent here with you is a far better use of time!
