This is just a slow down day

I'm very glad I went to the baby shower yesterday. It was fun seeing all the precious little girl gifts. The shower was held at a charming old fashioned candy store. Oh, how I used restraint but I do have to admit I did my share of dipping into the chocolate fountain. I only dipped strawberries, which are fairly low carb.

So far the cold symptoms have not become any worse than sniffles and swollen glands. It appears (so far) that I am not getting the severe cold symptoms that followed the flu for both the guys. I'm allowing myself another day off with only the necessary cooking and dishes on my "to do" list. There is wisdom in resting when there are many cold and flu bugs going around the community.

Normally Monday is a busy housework day. Oh, how tempting to start some of the organizing I must do in the garage (uh... unheated garage at that)! Sigh, all will still be there tomorrow or the next day. I would have my husband organize those shelves but then I'd never find anything. Our brains do not function the same way, what he thinks is logical... is not. :)

I have all kinds of interesting items to chat about running through my mind. However, they will wait for another day. I am in need of Benadryl and hot tea. As I am writing, there is a wicked wind blowing outside. It makes one glad they live in a brick house... all that huffing and puffing going on outside. I would say the very thought of taking a cup of tea to the coffeetable, placing a soft pillow and throw on the sofa, and enjoying a book... is necessary as well as comforting.

I pulled one of my all time favorite books off the shelf, Louis L'Amour's Education of a Wandering Man. A delightful autobiographical book about how he was self educated through reading. It is exactly what the "doctor ordered". When I am not feeling well, I prefer to re-read favorite books. I don't have to think as much. A very good thing...

Hi Brenda :) Sending hugs to you for feeling better very soon! I think you are wise to rest.

Just have to add that I love rereading my favorite books, too! What a lovely comfort they are :)

Have a super week. Love, Q

I do that too...re-read old favorites. I've never read the book you spoke of, though. I'll have to look for it!
Hope you're feeling better soon!

I hope you're feeling better soon. I've been going through a dry spell with my blog. I just don't seem to have much on my mind to share lately.

You're book sounds very interesting. I think my husband may enjoy it.
