However, I am fixing soup and homemade bread for my husband in honor of the veteran in our home. I baked the carrot cake yesterday.
He was one of those Vietnam Vets who did not receive a pleasant welcome upon returning to the States. I didn't know him at that time. I met him when he was getting his graduate degree on the GI Bill. When we met, I was a few weeks from turning 18 and he was 25. That was a lifetime ago!
So this house sends out prayers to everyone who has worn the uniform of our country. Thank you.

Brenda,
I didn't know your hubby was a Vietnam veteran. It saddens me to think of how they were treated. Please give him a warm gracious thank you and a handshake from my husband and myself. We owe our freedoms today to every veteran and soldier serving our country. My dad was a WWII veteran.
I'll give him thank you and I'll make the handshake a hug. :)
Yes, these men were treated horribly. Many would come home in uniform and be called baby killers at the airport. It is very sad.
