I came to Book Love early

I explained a little in my Introduction. When thinking of a title, I tried to think of what words would explain who I am. I couldn't include everything but what kept coming back to me was...coffee, tea and books. Of course, I love my family (that's a given) and lots of other "stuff" but those who know me well know my love of my morning coffee, everything that has to do with tea time and...books.

I came to love books early, which completely puzzled my nonreading mother and father. I think there must be some past gene that just skipped one or two generations. My mother took full advantage of my Book Love, though. She would drop me off wherever there were books and pick me up later when she ran errands. I was an easy child to raise, with my nose behind a book quite often.

I love brand new hardback books and the way they smell when you open them for the first time. I love ratty old paperbacks that are leather soft from years of rereading. I love the way my Bible opens to my favorite passages so easily. I love bookstores, libraries and book sales in said places.

I love books about books and blogs about books and articles about books and...you get the picture. My heart beats a little faster when, in my reading, the writer mentions a favorite book or a favorite author and I know I have found a likeminded person. I take pen to paper and write down their recommendations to look up at a later date. So...that is why books are in the title of my blog (more about coffee and tea at a later).

The picture in this post is a "sig" designed by a friend years ago when we were on the same Christian women's forum. I still love it after all these years, reminding me when my children were small and they also were discovering the joy of reading with Mom.

I understand and am excited to know a fellow book lover. I am a phase person. I go though phases. One month it will be books, another month the computer, and another month video games. This month it's books again. I just finished the biography of Joan Fontaine, and was so saddened by the lack of God in her life. I kept thinking as i read... oh this would have worked out better if you had only had Christ to turn to. But it was a great read, nonetheless. So, now, i'm in the middle of another Lori Wick, and in the beginning of Steps in Time by Fred Astaire.

I just found your blog and so far I would say we have much in common! I too LOVE the Lord, books, tea time and morning coffee. I really look forward to reading your blog from start to the present. God bless...Lori
