So fun!

And I use to have a lot of different tea cups/pots, but we had a house fire in '05 and lost them all :( -- I've started again, but this time I'm more selective w/ my choices and display and USE them often as you never know when you won't have them and that's what they are for - to enjoy :D!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32960314.post-87048525527049620502010-01-09T14:52:30.775-05:002010-01-09T14:52:30.775-05:00I don't think I've ever told you this, but...I don't think I've ever told you this, but the antique china cabinet that holds my mom's china now, was once my grandmother's; and grandmother had it filled, stacked two high, with tea cups and saucers. Sadly, sadly, sadly, my aunt kept all but a couple of my grandmother's tea cups, and I now have those two sets carefully tucked away behind glass to enjoy. I cant wait to find a tea pot. I am on mission now to find a home for at least one orphan every time I go to town. Which I will say is not often because it is 45 miles to one town and 80 to the next. I live in the south, and now that my boys have grown and married, I desire to find the more feminine southern ways. To me there is nothing better than curling up in the evening with my yarn, crochet hook and a cup of hot tea. Oh, and of course a good book.

Oh yes, I wonder if one day you might be lead to teach us how to care for both bone china and porcelain. I have only enjoyed tea in my new cup a few times and I already notice staining. I am deeply saddened. What am I doing wrong?

Many blessings, as I so enjoy your blog, though I am only a new follower, I will be an avid reader now! I always feel a certain ahhhhhhhh when I get a special mug out that reminds me of a trip or a place or a person. I have a blue stoneware mug bought at the Shaker Village in Ky that I'm using today . Yesterday, was my Red Cardinal Peace mug that at $2.99 was a steal from cracker barrel in my opinion..this thing is gorgeous. I have a sweet Christmas mug my mother gave me, so I always think her when I use it. Maybe these are THINGS making us feel better, but so much bertter than drugs , alcohol, food, etc.
Brenda, I wish you could open a tea shop and serve tea/ scones/ and share your wisdom and coziness. Not that I wasn't happy before, but it IS a bit gray around here (though we've had intermittent sunny moments). The tea cups make me smile. I collect (without ever having set out to do so) lots of old and new books, tea cups and pots, quilt fabric, figurines inherited from my mother, old linens from my mother and grandmother and times living in Hungary. Now I am trying to "bless other people with my stuff" as my daughter Emily says. I'm 65 this month and my point of view changes!

Just sad that neither of my daughters like what they call "china people". But they make me remember happy times.

Your yellow teapot looks like it would warm up a person even before the tea got into it!Thickethouse.wordpresshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17187303460677067276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32960314.post-11388566032509784632010-01-09T11:34:15.819-05:002010-01-09T11:34:15.819-05:00Loved seeing your cup collection. And I think they are a great cure for a dreary day - think I should go look at mine! Our weather is different than yours.
