Ice cream is stored in the outside fridge for this reason. I don't have our food spend under control but I do try. I have five days left until I shop and my list is long. One thing that truly helps me with freezing food is a vacuum sealing. I can make meats very flat and compact. It also reduces freezer burn. I just wish it didn't use plastic.Suzannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32960314.post-29799229007153661862020-01-25T19:12:48.608-05:002020-01-25T19:12:48.608-05:00Brenda your stock up planning is a great way to be...Brenda your stock up planning is a great way to be prepared. I also am a fan of buying family size packages and coming home - wrapping them in smaller bags for freezing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on stocking up on more large items every few months. Hope you have a great weekend.Debbie Nolanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11168646638438558551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32960314.post-52733868503144664902020-01-25T18:42:21.246-05:002020-01-25T18:42:21.246-05:00"I have never heard the cry of frozen spinach..."I have never heard the cry of frozen spinach late at night" - Oh Brenda! Sometimes you are so so delightfully hilarious. This made me laugh so hard.

The advice is wise as always. However, you are proud of me! I had to go to the bank and was debating whether to go Friday night or Saturday morning. I was feeling antsy so I went Friday night. Of course, I just had to stop at the grocery store...just in case there was something at a good price. And LO!!!

Spiral hams regularly $3.49 a pound.....99 Cents A Pound!! I picked up a smaller one that mom and I can split and started to the check out. Only to remember that I am hosting some folks up north in a month or so....I grabbed a larger one too for the freezer. A $48 ham for $13. It'll eat just fine along with that turkey that was free.

Gotta do your best to stretch your dollars...although they don't seem to be as rubbery as they once were. I try to do that in that but sometimes something gets away from me and I need something for a recipe that I don't have (hate it when that happens). I like to have at least one extra in my pantry of everything I regularly use. On another subject..your word for the year "Celebration"...I am re-reading posts from your early years. On Nov. 19, 2007 your talked about "celebration" fourth paragraph.... "to remember what God has done". I thought that was very interesting that He gave you that thought all those years ago and has now given you the word for the year. I am living from freezer items this month as I decided not another cent on groceries until I have eaten what I already have. It’s about as exciting as stale bread. Your organizational skills are impressive, Brenda. I have not one clue about when the sales run. I tend to buy items as I need them. I had no idea that beef bones sell so high. Have never bought any, but I do remember the days when Mother got free bones for Prince White Ruff of Joylynn. 😏 No kidding, THAT was his name. A happy weekend to you!
