Some dry cereal (not something I normally eat but handy in an emergency) and I also keep UHT milk.
I drink a lot of tea - which is going up in price - so I stockpile that when its on sale and I'm getting Loyalty points on top.
Plus some treats - again, I don't eat desserts these days but I have a few packages stored away in the pantry along with some hard candy and some dark chocolate - might be just what's needed when living through an emergency.Margie from Torontohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10103835021764804099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32960314.post-29838773415857477652019-07-14T20:45:44.081-04:002019-07-14T20:45:44.081-04:00That's an excellent tip ....writing the expiry...That's an excellent tip ....writing the expiry on the cans. Pantry is filled with bland, very bland foods. I have gathered up snack jellos and puddings that satisfy my need for smooth and cool. I always find these discussions interesting, even when I am ignoring them. I’ll be reading without commenting the next couple of weeks. Since we don't have a gas stove & can't cook if we lose electricity, we always try to keep some items in the pantry that could be eaten without cooking. Okay, canned soup isn't so great cold, but still is better than no meal at all! Thankfully the longest our power has been out was about 3 days, after a severe wind storm. Since our water supply is a flowing well, having clean drinkable water available is never a problem, even tho it isn't so handy (flowing spring & well are down a rather steep slope from the yard).
