My mother thinks I'm nuts and my husband wisely makes no comment.

If you're looking for something English-y and worth many re-reads, look for the "Diary of a Provincial Lady" books from the 1940s by E.M. Delafield. I've re-read them so many times the pages are falling out :)
Nita in SCAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32960314.post-88382210662455757262007-06-25T09:03:00.000-04:002007-06-25T09:03:00.000-04:00Good morning Brenda :o)Loved this post. My books and the dear ones that have authored them are indeed counted among my most treasured friends. I hope you, and Christopher have been able to rest and are feeling somewhat better. May Jesus hold you espcially close in His tender love and care for you.
xo Jewelssinginginthemoonlighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09909547315619715243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32960314.post-31568339019122016242007-06-24T20:40:00.000-04:002007-06-24T20:40:00.000-04:00Brenda, have you ever seen the Christy t.v. series...Brenda, have you ever seen the Christy t.v. series? Re-reading a favorite piece of fiction is almost like a conversation with an old friend. Familiar, yet the time between readings blends the familiarity with a bit of "oh, I'd forgotten about that", and "I remember this part!".

When re-reading a non-fiction book I'm always amazed at the new things I learn or pick up from second, third and even fourth readings.

Like you, some of my favorite books have smudges on them, an accidentally dog-eared pages or two, or even a few loose pages. They are dear old friends, though, and I'll never part with them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
