Great Sadness

We often returned home to find her waiting for us at the window...

Our beloved kitty girl, Victoria, suffered a seizure last night and slipped away from our presence.  We are still trying to process our loss but I hope to be back on Sunday.

Our last day with her was full of kitty snuggles, two spa treatments as she loved to be brushed, and seeing her lovely face looking out the window as we drove into the driveway after shopping for groceries.

She will be greatly missed.  She will be buried today under the dogwood tree, wrapped in an old quilt.

My eyes teared up reading this. I cried all day when we lost our little dog. I understand. It may be that there is another ther Kitty somewhere just waiting to be rescued and loved in time for the long winter.

  17. So sorry for the loss of your dear pet. It's never easy to lose a dear family member but you can have some peace that she was well taken care of and sounds like she returned her loving care back to you by filling your days with joy, humor, and happiness. My husband has brought home numerous kittens that he finds at his work by people who throw them out. So over the years we've nursed and loved a variety of cats who each have their own personality and quirks. We've also lost some and it's been heartbreaking. May you find comfort and peace knowing that she enjoy her last days and will be near to watch over you.

  24. Precious Friend,
I understand and am so very sorry for you. I know your sweet cats are loving companions through your days. Our beloved golden retriever passed away last year before Christmas. Everyone seemed a little sad and lost through the holidays. So, even though we had a busy season, we found a new retriever puppy, Darcy Dog. She has brought such comfort and love this season. I pray you will find comfort in the sweet memories of your wonderful Victoria. Sending love.

Funny,m not even 10 minutes ago my daughters and I were having texts back and forth involving their childhood kitty and I had just texted them that Maggie, Romeo, Muffy, Valentine and Wink were probably waiting at Rainbow Bridge for us, playing together in harmony.

I bet Victoria is right there with those beloved furry family friends, too.

I could not help but cry when I read of Victoria's sudden death. She shared your home and love for as long as she could. I understand completely your need to step back and grieve. She was such a bundle of soft furry love. Our pets are a complete part of our lives. They share in everything we do. When we are home they are there and when we are gone we think of them. Naturally then when they are not with us anymore a hole is left in our days...and in our hearts. Her Fluffiness will be sorely missed. Sarah

So very sorry to hear this Brenda...I know how much solace a beloved pet gives!! Our last dog suffered terribly for the last year of her life, no matter what all we humans did to try to help her...sounds like Victoria was very quick...and I am so glad if that is the case...though sudden loss is not easy to handle either. We have grieved so much for our last beloved dog...hubby said and why not? She loved us more than nearly all humans. It is true!! Victoria was one pretty girl...glad you have some great photos of her!!

Dear Brenda I am very sorry to read about the loss of Victoria. I have been reading your blog for a few years and have always enjoyed your pictures of Victoria. I will miss seeing her. My favourite pictures of Victoria were when she was sitting in front of the television, when she was standing on her back paws looking out the window in your study, and when she was sitting on top of your desk in your study helping you with your projects. She will always be with you in your heart.

I am not one to comment on blogs but I do enjoy this blog so much. I am so sorry about Victoria. She was a beautiful kitty who reminded me so much of our long ago kitty, Marilyn. Loosing our sweet pets is so hard especially at Christmas. We lost our 14 year old pug December 13,2014. Our younger daughter was married the next week on December 20th. I am forever grateful that Pug did not die on the wedding week end. I don't think we could have made it through the ceremony. Our pets are family and loosing one is so heart breaking. Billy Graham says he thinks we will see our beloved pets in heaven. I have great respect for Dr. Graham and do hope he is right.

  83. OMG, Brenda - I just read this today, Monday. I am crying with you. We just lost Buster, my husband's cat. He was only 13 years old and he must have had cancer because he went from 18 to 5 pounds in about 8 months. Before him, Neko had seizures and passed away. I'm so very sorry and wish I could just sit with you. I know how these lovely creatures steal into our hearts and have a permanent place there. I still cry over Buster and he has been gone for weeks - he was almost like a little person. Oh Brenda - that's all I can say. Oh my dear friend.....in a way I loved Victoria too even though I never met her. I didn't have to - her wonderful personality was on most pages of your blog.
